One of the first questions we ask ourselves when our business ideas start to manifest in the form of a business plan is what does it mean for an entrepreneur? Does it mean you are a dreamer, someone who lacks any real business skills or abilities? Does it mean you are always going to fail in business, and any venture you take will be a lost cause?
Based on our definition of an entrepreneur, these thoughts make sense. We probably think to ourselves, “well I was born with a great deal of talent, but I lack any real business skills or abilities.” Then why do we feel this way when we hear someone speaking about themselves as an entrepreneur?
It’s not about having all the qualities and abilities to be a great entrepreneur. The qualities and abilities are great, but they don’t bring success in business. Success in business is going to come from how well you work, your ability to make your customers successful, your ability to expand your client base, and the time and energy you put into your business. If you are lucky, you’ll be able to use those qualities to leverage success in business and also make money from your business.
When we think about business ideas we want to create something that has potential and is something that people will be interested in. Not just something that can generate some profits. Think about it, you don’t need to have a lot of money in order to get started or to succeed.
So what is it going to take to become a great entrepreneur? Well, it takes tenacity, creativity, hard work, and persistence. It takes good management skills, marketing skills, business skills, and most importantly, management skills because, without them, you can’t make anyone succeed in business.
What’s the best way to become a businessman? It’s got to be through self-education through books, the internet, and courses in leadership.
For example, how would you define good business management skills? If we had a large corporation that has a serious management problem, we’d want to find out how a person would define this. How much responsibility does that person have, and are there any staff members that are coming up short?

Self-reflection and self-education through books and courses can help you be a better entrepreneur. Most of the companies who have offered self-development programs have gained a tremendous return on their investment and actually saw their business grow and thrive through the courses they offer.
When large corporations have a mismanagement issue or a company fails to meet a deadline, they often appoint someone to look into the matter. This is another step in self-education. What the managers learned, how they learned it, and how to implement their lesson learned, can lead to self-improvement.
Now you can also expect to have a large database of e-books, videos, audio courses, and other methods and tools for self-development, such as self-education through books, audios, and seminars. However, remember to watch out for scams. A person could easily make a lot of money by offering free e-books, but these might end up being advertisements or links.
